French revolution started off as a good idea by King Louis XVI to call an assembly of Estates General in 1789 to resolve the growing discontent among the masses. But it rapidly devolved into chaos and death. Louis XVI and his family were guillotined, all landed property of the Church were confiscated, commons man’s war finally ended in 1799 when Napoleon took over as a dictator, who finally became the emperor in 1804.
