Shri Ram went to forest for 14 years with lakshman ji and Mata sita ji....

It is so because he was going to be Yuvraj( means who will be King in future). But Mata kaiki hi and her msid Manthra wanted Bharat ji to be Yuvraj and told Kaiki hi that Shri Ram would go to forest and Bharat will be Yuvraj. Because King Dashratha ji promised Mata Kaiki hi to fulfil her any 2 wishes. Kaiki hi did it and Lord Shri ram went to forest for 14 years....
