However, the rule books do not permit sharing of the award by two people. When questioned on whether there is a rule which states that two people cannot be given this award, Shorte said, “There is a such a rule but there is also another clause, which states that the government is the final deciding authority. This decision has been approved by the Chief Minister and the Minister of Sports.”

"Shri Shiv Chatrapati award" is given by the State Government and as per the rules stated the State government is also the deciding authority for these awards and the final list. The award is given by the Maharashtra government for various sports to the sportsmen with commendable or excellent achievements in their fields.
