If the External Solution surrounding Plant Cell is more Concentrated,it is Known as Hypertonic. And it has less Water Potential.Cells Shrink in Hypertonic solution.
Plasmolysis occurs when water moves out of the cell and the cell membrane of a plant cell shrinks away from its cell wall. This occurs when the cell (or tissue) is placed in a solution that is Hypertonic. Water moves from Cell to Outside. This causes the Protoplasm to Shrink away from the cell walls. The cell is said to be Plasmolysed. The Water moved from Higher water Potential (i.e Inside the cell) to Lower Water Potential(Outside the Cell).
