Solution :

The mobile is initially sold at a profit of 10%

If it was sold for Rs. 160 more, then the profit would have been 12%

We have to find the cost of the mobile.

Suppose it's cost price is m inr.

When it's sold for a profit of 10%

SP = 1.1 m ( 110% of m)

When it's sold for a profit of 12%

SP = 1.12 m ( 112% of m)

The difference is 160

1.12 m - 1.1m = 160

>> 0.02 m = 160

>> 2m = 160 × 100

>> m = 80 × 100 = 8000 inr

Answer : The cost of the mobile is Rs. 8000

Question:-

Shubhendu sold a mobile phone at a profit of 10%. Had it been sold for ₹160 more, the profit would have been 12%. Find the cost of mobile?

Given:-

  • Shubhendu sold a mobile phone at a profit of 10%. Had it been sold for ₹160 more, the profit would have been 12%.

To Find:-

  • The cost of mobile = ?

Solution:-

Let, C.P. = x.

 \sf \large P \% = 10 \% =    \: \frac{S.P. \:  –  \: C.P.}{ C.P.}  \times 100

 \sf \large⇒ \frac{10}{100}  =  \frac{S.P.}{x}  - 1 \\  \\  \sf \large⇒S.P. =  \frac{110}{100} x

 \sf \large at  \:  \: P \% = 12 \% =  \frac{S.P.'– \:  C.P.}{ C.P.}  \times 100 \%

 \sf \large⇒ \frac{12}{100}  =  \frac{S.P.'}{x}  - 1 \\  \\  \sf \large⇒S.P. ' =  \frac{112}{100} x

Given, S.P.' – C.P. = ₹160.

 \sf \large⇒ \frac{112x}{100}  -  \frac{110x}{100}  = 160 \\  \\  \sf \large⇒ \frac{2x}{100}  = 160 \\  \\  \sf \large x =  \frac{160 \times 100}{2}  \\  \\  \sf \large x =  \frac{{{ \cancel{16}}},000}{{{ \cancel{2}  }}}= 8,000

Answer:-

The cost of mobile = 8,000.

Hope you have satisfied.
