The Shunga dynasty belongs to the Pushyamitra brahman. This dynasty was an indian ruling house and they took control of the dynasty after the assassination of the Mauryan dynasty's last ruler Brihadratha at a military parade and presumed power.

Pushyamitra ruled for more than three decades, (roughly 36 years) then got his successor who was known to be Agnimitra.
