SOLUTION

GIVEN

Shyam bought 2 articles for Rs.5.50 each and 3 articles for Rs.3.50 each and 3 articles for Rs.5.50 each and 5 articles for Rs.1.50 each.

EVALUATION

The average price for one article

EVALUATION

Here it is given that

Shyam bought 2 articles for Rs.5.50 each

Sum of the price of 2 articles

= Rs ( 2 × 5.50)

= Rs 11

Again Shyam bought 3 articles for Rs.3.50 each

Sum of the price of 3 articles

= Rs ( 3 × 3.50)

= Rs 10.50

Next Shyam bought 3 articles for Rs.5.50 each

Sum of the price of 3 articles

= Rs ( 3 × 5.50)

= Rs 16.50

Next Shyam bought 5 articles for Rs.1.50 each.

Sum of the price of 5 articles

= Rs ( 5 × 1.50)

= Rs 7.50

Number of articles

= 2 + 3 + 3 + 5

= 13

Sum of all price of 13 articles

= Rs ( 11 + 10.50 + 16.50 + 7.50 )

= Rs 46.50

Hence the required average price

 \displaystyle \sf{ =Rs \:  \:  \frac{45.50}{13}  }

= Rs 3.50
