Shyam's present age is 32.

  1. Let us assume the present son's age as x.
  2. Then the present age of Shyam will be 4x.
  3. Five years ago, his son's age will be x - 5.
  4. Five years ago, Shyam's age will be 9(x-5).
  5. Now the given condition, Shyam's age five years ago should be same

Four times his son's age five years ago = Shyam's present age - 5

9(x - 5) = 4x - 5

9x - 45 = 4x - 5

5x = 40

x = 8

  • Therefore, Son's present age is x that is 8 and Shyam's present age is 4x that is 32.

Answer:

32

Step-by-step explanation:

Shyam's present age is 32.

1. Let us assume the present son's age as X.

2. Then the present age of Shyam will be 4x.

3. Five years ago, his son's age will be x - 5.

4. Five years ago, Shyam's age will be 9(x-5).

5. Now the given condition, Shyam's age five years ago should be same

Four times his son's age five years ago = Shyam's present age - 5

9(x - 5) = 4x - 5

9x - 45= 4x - 5

5x = 40

x = 8

Therefore, Son's present age is x that is 8 and Shyam's present age is 4x that is 32.
