Answer:

Shylock is called a faithless Jew because he used to be cruel and used to take huge interests while giving loan to anyone. When it came to the bond between Shylock and Antonio , Shylock just wanted to take revenge as Antonio has spitted on Shylock many times and disrespected him. As of now he had a fire of revenge going on in his head and now as Antonio is unable to fulfill the loan on time, Shylock has life of Antonio in his hand and there was already a great hatred between the two communities. Shylock is showing no mercy while in the court and want to kill Antonio any how because of communal hatred and disrespectful deeds of Antonio, Shylock wants to anyhow kill Antonio and wanted his revenge and did not show and sign of mercy to Antonio even though people around him were crying for Antonio.

Hope this helps.

have a great day.
