ANSWER :

Current density (J ) is defined as current flowing through the conductor per unit area.

Therefore :-

J = I / A

where=>

I = electric current current flowing through the conductor ( in amperes)

A = cross-sectional area( in metre² or m² )

therefore =>

S.I unit of Current density (J ) =

=>amperes/metres ²

=> A / m²

A / m² is the SI unit of Current density.

  • Current density is the amount of electric current flowing per unit cross-sectional area of a material.
  • Hence the SI unit of current density must be Ampere/meter²
