Sickle cell anemia shows abnormal crescent shaped RBC’s.

Normally, human RBC’s are shaped like discs to allow easy travel through the blood vessels.

In sickle cell anemia, RBC’s crescent shape makes them rigid and prone to getting stuck in vessels.

This leads to insufficient blood flow to organs and tissue damage.
