let side of Square be X .
then
new side of Square be X ×10/100 +X.
therefore
old area =x^2
and new area (X ×10/100+X)^2=(11x/10)^2=121x^2/100
increase in area=new area - old area
=121x^2/100 - x^2 = 21x^2/100
increase in area in percent = 21x^2/100×100 = 21%
as x^2 is old area
