Step-by-step explanation:

let the side be x

new side = x + 10% of x

x + 10 x / 100

= x + x /10

= (10x + x )/10

= 11x / 10

orginal area = side square.

new area = (11x / 10 )(11x / 10)

=121 x × x / 100

Increase in area = 21 %
