the diagonal is also 2 cm

suvan: will you explain
Acc11: Yes sure
Acc11: Listen
Acc11: Formula of diagonal of a square if side is given is side*2✓2
Acc11: Sorry side*✓2
Acc11: Now questions arises who generalised it? Right
Acc11: This equation was derived from phythagoras theorem of triangles
Acc11: which explains that in a triangle side² +side²=hypotenuse ²
Acc11: where hypotenuse is that side opposite to 90° angle i.e. longest side
Acc11: and side is other two side adjacent to 90°

We will take square as two right angled triangles. Hence, by phythagoras theorem,
(side)²+(side)²=(diagonal)²
Hence,
(2)²+(2)²=(diagonal)²
4+4=(diagonal) ²
✓8=diagonal
Hence, diagonal is √8 or 2√2
Hope it may help

suvan: well diaogonal is root 2 into side right then it root 2 into 2 root 4 = 2
suvan: what u say
Acc11: No
Acc11: And Yes
Acc11: Formula is correct. Calculation is wrong.
Acc11: 2✓2
Acc11: 2=✓2*✓2
Acc11: Hope you are understanding
Acc11: Hope it may help
