The product of Magnitude of charge on either of the poles and distance b/w centre of positive and negative charges is called dipole moment.it is expressed in Debye

1-it is vector quantity
2-its mainly depend on charge rather than length
3-LI-F has more polarising than LI-CL or any other halogen series . 
4-its mainly used to calculate which is more polarising....
