✧ Empirical formula

is the simplest form of notation. It provide the lowest whole-number ratio between the elements in a compound. Unlike molecular formulas, it do not provide information about the absolute number of atoms in a single molecule of a compound.

✧ Molecular formula

signifies the number of atoms of a particular element constituting a compound. It is significant as an atom can form varying bonds with the another atom and also same number of bond with the different amount of other atoms ( like there is existence of NO, N2O, NO2) etc.
