While India's Independence Day celebrates its freedom from British Rule, the Republic Day celebrates the coming into force of its constitution. A draft constitution was prepared by the committee and submitted to the Constituent Assembly on 4 November 1947.

In India, republic day is celebrated annually as national festival all over India to honor the day when the constitution of India came into action as the governing document of India. It is celebrated every year since 1950 to remember the occurrence of Indian constitution. Republic day is a national holiday all over India. It is celebrated on 26 January is to celebrate the Purna Swaraj Day, which was earlier planned for January 26, 1930, at Lahore. Despite India got independence in 1947, the first republic day was celebrated three years later on January 26, 1950.



It took 2 years 11 months and 18 days of immense effort and wisdom for the team of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to complete the draft of Indian constitution. 308 members of Indian assembly signed the documents of the Indian constitution on January 24, 1950. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first president of our country was sworn in as the president on January 26th, 1950.Every year the republic day celebrations take place over 3 days and are concluded on January 29th every year. Hindi, was declared as the national language on January 26th, 1965.



Annually in the national capital, New Delhi, a huge celebration event is organized at the Rajpath, India gate before the president of India. A grand parade of Indian army takes place at Raj path to honor the Indian flag. A floral wreath tribute event at the Amar Jawan Jyothi takes place by the prime minister of India to pay tribute and honor to the martyred soldiers at the India gate. Names of all the freedom fighters who have sacrificed their lives for the country are written at the India Gate.



We are very proud of our leaders, constitution and the effort that went into making India the country it is today.
