Significance of study of fossils:
- Fossils are an important source of information that give us clues about what happened millions of years ago.
- Fossils of plants, animals and even footprints help ‘paleontologists’ to understand what sort of animals lived in a particular area, what the climate could have been like, what type of food sources were available and what the landscape these animals and plants lived in.
- Together these help to form a picture of what things were like millions of years ago.
