In the story “ The price of flowers” faith plays a very significant role. Maggie's mother had the belief that Indian's have the power to look into the ring and know about the well being of others. Mr. Gupta didn't want to hurt her and therefore made a false attempt to telling about her son Frank by looking in the ring. After knowing that her son is well and happy in India, she felt relaxed and became well. Mr.Gupta did the right thing by accepting the shilling from Maggie. Maggie gave him the shilling so as to buy flowers for her brother Frank's grave. At first, Mr. Gupta didn't want to return the shilling but later he decided to keep it as behind the shilling there lied the feelings of Maggie for her brother. The price of flowers become priceless when the feelings and emotions are considered. Hence, the title "The Price of the Flowers" denotes the value of the feelings which those flowers had in the life of the characters rather than the financial value of those flowers.
