Our stomach is the place where main digestion takes place.
Various enzymes and HCl released make the scondition of the stomach acidic.
So, periodically a layer of mucus is secreted so that the stomach does not get digested itself.

Hope it helps!!!

MUCUS IS A PART OF GASTRIC JUICE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO STOMACH IN ORDER TO SAVE THE STOMACH FROM THE EFFECTS OF HCl AS HCL FORMS ULCERS IN STOMACH AFTER GETTING CONYACTED WITH STOMACH LAYERS SO MUCUS PREVNTS HCl's AND STOMACH'S CONTACT BY FORMING A SMALL LAYER
