One can find ashes and other proofs to suggest that Buddhist and Jain monks occupied these caves many centuries back.

Historians have also discovered many Buddhists relics inside these caves.

The relics are there at a Museum in Ananthapur.

The ASI (Archaeological survey of India) got leftovers of artifacts and vessels dating back to the pre-Buddhist era.

They have dated the remnants of the vessels that were found in the caves to 4500 BC.
