SILK ROAD
This chapter gives an account of a journey from gently rolling hills of Ravu to Mount Kailash . The aim of this journey was religious. The narrator, Nick Middleton wanted to complete the journey to Mount Kailash. He undertook a very tough journey to Mount Kailash for pilgrimage. He hired Tsetan and took Daniel as companion for escorting him to Darchen. He describes the hilly people quite sensitively. He approves of Norbu's practical suggestion to hire Yaks to carry luggage. His observations about lake Mansarovar and Darchen reveal the difference between legend and reality. He completes his pilgrimage by facing all hardships by his deep faith.
