silkworm are killed by placing the cocoon in hot water​

Because there is a worm inside the cocoon so that's why it is boil to kill it . so it will not harm the humans. When the silkworms are still in their cocoons they are boiled out so that they would die inside. ... After the silkworm dies it becomes easier to unwrap the silk threads.

Cocoons are Placed in boiling water to get smooth & continious thread from it. ... The cocoons are put on steam (Hot boiling water Vapours) to soften the Cocoons Upper Layers and Kill the larvae (Silk Worm) & can be stored as is for more than 10 days.
