"Silkworms and honey bees are beneficial not just to humans but for the nation too" . Justify this statement
Answers
We are taught from a young age that bees carry pollen from plant to plant and flower to flower in a process called pollination. In fact, bees are responsible for pollinating nearly 85% of all food crops for humans, as well as numerous crops that grow the food fed to cattle. Without the honeybee, our options for nourishment would be seriously lacking, and there has been research conducted that predicts environmental collapse should the honeybee no longer exist.
The art of silk production is called sericulture that comprises cultivation of mulberry, silkworm rearing and post cocoon activities leading to production of silk yarn. Sericulture provides gainful employment, economic development and improvement in the quality of life to the people in rural area and therefore it plays an important role in anti poverty programme and prevents migration of rural people to urban area in search of employment.

Explanation:
The silkworms and honey bees are engaged in doing useful services to human beings. Few out of them have been artificially employed by us for the product they produce or the service they render. A few of the important products produced by the insects which are of our interest are honey, wax, pollen grains for nutrition, royal jelly, various kinds of silk (mulberry, moonga, kosha, tusser), natural lac, dyes, colors, scents, etc. Various services for which we artificially employ insects are pollination, predatory (ladybird beetles, aphid lions), parasitic (Trichogramma, Eulophids wasps), weed control (Neochetina beetles), mass multiplication of parasitoids (grain moth), etc.
Such insects which are artificially employed by rearing or encouraging them for the products they produce or the service they render to us which are of our interest are known as Beneficial Insects. There is a full-fledged course on this subject at PG level students studying Entomology.
