silkworms produce silk. Silk is a natural protein fibre which can be woven into textiles. Also, the protein fibre of silk is made up of fibroin and is produced from silkworm's larvae to form cocoons. The protein fibre secreted by silkworm gets hardened on exposure to the atmosphere and becomes silk fibre.
