SILVER : it reacts with sulphur to form silver sulphide
COPPER;- it reacts with carbon dioxide to for copper carbonate

Silver and copper lose their shine when they exposed to air because they are reactive metals. Tamarind juice is used to remove tarnished copper vessels. Aluminum is more reactive to iron yet they have less corrison properties.
