Silver anklets lost its lustre and turned black after a month.

Answer:

The anklet is of pure silver, it just reacted with water and free air to get converted into greyish silver oxide which turned it black. ... After washing with tamarind or lemon juice the acidic content in them removed the basic silver oxides. Hence, the lustre came back.
