Answer :-

Correct answer is the last option i.e. AgS .

Explanation :-

If we see the reactivity series, then we can understand that silver (Ag) is a very unreactive metal . For this reason, it doesn't react with oxygen present in the atmosphere.

But when silver articles are exposed prolonged to air, silver reacts with some sulphur compounds like Hydrogen Sulphide (HS) to form a black layer of Silver Sulphide (AgS) .

______________________________

The balanced chemical equation, for the reaction is :-

2Ag + HS AgS + H

This is a kind of 'corrosion' in which the silver articles lose their shine and become black due to formation of a coating of Silver sulphide on them .

Required Answer :-

Ag₂S (Option D is correct)

Why?

When the silver articles will be placed in air then it will become black. This is due to the hydrogen sulphide present in the air. Also silver is covered with a coating of silver sulphide. Due to it the silver will turn black.

Word equation - Argon + Hydrogen sulphide ⇒ silver sulfide + hydrogen

Equation - Ag + H₂S ⇒ Ag₂S + H₂
