Silver becomes black and copper turns green on the surface when exposed to air for some time. Give reason? What is this phenomenon called ?

Silver reacts with sulphur present in the air to form Silver Sulphide which Is black in colour and in the case of Copper it reacts with the carbon dioxide in the air and forms copper carbonate which is green in colour. This phenomenon is called corrosion.
