Silver, gold and platinum are called noble metals because they are placed low in reactivity series and hence they are least reactive metals. Due to this thry donot react with anyone and hencr they donot form compounds.

Hope it helps!!!

In chemistry, the noble metals are metals that are resistant to corrosion and oxidation in moist air. The short list of chemically noble metals comprises ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, silver, osmium, iridium, platinum, and gold.

Noble metal, any of several metallic chemical elements that have outstanding resistance to oxidation, even at high temperatures; the grouping is not strictly defined but usually is considered to include the metals of groups VIIb, VIII, and Ib of the second and third transition series of the periodic table.

Chemistry allows for a loose definition of noble metals, but the physics definition is more restrictive. In physics, a noble metal is one which has filled electronic d-bands. According to this definition, onlyg old, silver and copper are noble metals.
