The Silver Halide test used for halogen containing compound is not suitable for Fluorides.

- Halide test is done by adding silver nitrate solution to the solution of organic compound.

- This precipitates out the silver halides like AgCl, AgBr and AgI.

- Fluorine is the only halide which does not form any precipitate with silver nitrate.

- So this test is not suitable to identify Fluorides.
