Silvie took a wire of length 44 cm and bent it into the shape of a circle. find the radius of the circle. also find its area if the same wire is bent into the shape of a square what will be the length of each of its side ? which figure encloses more area, the circle or the square ?

Answer:

2πr = 44    

 2 ×22/7×r = 44 44/7 ×r

                  = 44r

                   = 44 ÷447r

                    = 44 ×744

                      = 7 cm

Area = TT 2

         = 227×7×7

          = 154 cm 2

Perimeter of square = 4S

                                   4S  = 44

                                   S = 44/4     =11cm

Area of square = S2= 112=  11×11= 121 cm2
