Question:

Solve the Following Simultaneous Equation.

3x - 4y = 30;

2x - 7y = 33

Step-by-step explanation:

3x - 4y = 30    ___(i)

2x - 7y = 33    ___(ii)

Multiply (ii) with 3 & (i) with 2: We get

6x - 8y = 60    ___(iii)

6x - 21y = 99    ___(iv)

Subtracting (iii) from (iv): We get

13y = 39

y = 3

Putting the value of y = 3 in (i)

3x - 4y = 30

⇒ 3x - 4(3) = 30

⇒ 3x - 12 = 30

⇒ 3x = 18

⇒ x = 6
