Simaran takes a carrot and cuts it's lower end. She dipped the carrot ( lower) in water containing water and leaves for few hours. She cuts it horizontally and observes red colour in central part .

Phloem helps the plant/carrot by carrying

sugar,amino acids and other nutrients from

roots to the stem and other parts of

the plant/carrot.If the phloem is removed then the

transportation of substances won't take

place and plant/carrot would not get the needed

requirements to carry out its process and

at last the plant/carrot dies,i.e. in this experiment wgen carrot is dipped in water for few hours its red part from middle vanishes,the cellsin carrot dies and caroot starts to shrink
