In both ionic and metallic crystals have electrostatic forces of attraction in ionic crystals these are between charged ions while in metallic these are among the valence electrons and kernels that is why boat ionic and metallic crystals have high melting point and in both the cases the bond is non-directional
Differences
In ionic crystals the ions are not free to move and therefore they do not conduct electricity in the molten state or in their aqueous solution however in metals the valence electrons are free to move and hence they conduct electricity in the solid state
