been 2 years I read that book but
1)both were sad during the starting of play and had sadness which they could not explain
2) both of their friends tried to chear them up
3)both had lots of wealth but it could not provide happiness

1) portia had the will to live antonio did not have
2) portia was capable of taking necessary steps but antonio did not fight even for his own life.
