some of the similarities between porifera and protozoa are: Both the phyla lack cells and muscle cells. They lack gastrula stage in development of embryo. Mode of nutrition is same in porifera and protozoa.

The main differences between sponges and protozoa is that sponges are marine invertebrates that belong to the phyla porifera whereas protozoa are a diverse group of unicellular eukaryots, a subdivision of kingdom protista..... Moreover, sponges are sessile animals while protozoa are either free-living or parasites.
