Maglev trains work on the principle of magnetic levitation which means that magnets placed on the bottom of the train and on the tracks are used to guide and propel the trains forwards. Its a non-mechanical way to move a train.
A hovercraft on the other hand works on the principle of Newton's third law of motion and it has propellers placed behind it above water to guide it forwards while sets of fans are placed at the bottom to provide lift. The combination of the two help in propulsion the craft. Its a mechanical to move a craft.
