The Himalayan and Peninsular rivers different sources and courses. Yet there are a few similarities between Himalayan and Peninsular rivers other than providing water for irrigation and water transport. These are as follows.

2) Rivers of both Himalayan and Peninsular region have hydroelectric projects along their courses and also provide huge opportunities for hydroelectric power generation.

4) The Himalayan rivers have formed vast fertile alluvial plains which are suitable for agriculture, transport development and industrialization. In peninsular region these favorable conditions are available in the coastal tracts.
