Let's say the "brain" of a computer malfunction when something like water were to reach it. They computer would break obviously. It could be fixed depending on what or how much it was damage. Or if a virus entered, it would also break. The same goes for a human! If one thing in our system goes wrong, we also begin to break. Lets say (sadly) cancer. Sometimes, depending on the stage, it can be removed. If your late, however, you may not be able to remove it.
