Answer:

here is your answer

Explanation:

In Bharatanatyam, the dancer uses many mudras and hip movements. ... But in Kathak, the dancer dances throughout in a standing posture. There are limited or no hip movements. Bharatanatyam is a dance form which is based or evolved from the stories of Shiva and Kathak focuses more on the tales of Radha and Krishna.

Answer:

Actually there are no similarities between this 2 dance style.

Explanation:

There are a lot of differences between these two styles.

1. Kathak is done in standing position while Bharatanatyam is in half-seated position, which is called Ayata.

2.Main characteristic - In Kathak, it is the footwork and chakkars while in Bharatanatyam, it is the Ayata (see point 1) and the poses.

3. Kathak starts with Vilambit (Very slow speed) and ends in Druta or Ati Druta (fast or too fast). Bharatanatyam is generally danced in madhya laya (medium speed). (Although one can see Slow or Fast speed in some of the items)

4. The music used for Kathak is Hindistani Classical while Bharatanatyam uses Carnatic Classical Music. That makes a huge difference in the way they are performed.

5. Compositions for Kathak are mostly in Hindi but for Bharatanatyam, they are generally in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Sanskrit language.

6. A typical Kathk presentation will have Nritta (pure dance) followed by some Abhyanaya (expressing the emotion) ending with Tarana. However, it is said that Bharatanatyam has a perfect balance of all three elements of dance ie. Nritta(Pure Dance), Nrutya(Pure dance with Expression of Emotion) and Abhinaya (expression of Emotion).

Hope this will help you.
