Similarities in today's transportation and ancient transportation

Well there are not much similarities between ancient transport and modern one. Today people need fast and reliable transport. Early transportation was not easy even you life could be in danger. But now we got roads,we got rails, we can cruise through water, we can fly through air. Except some transport like animal driven, are being still use. Early there were no roads, plus there dangers of dacoit and just enough dangers that we can't imagine.
So basically there are no similarities between ancient and modern.
Just there is one similarity You Need To Travel:-)
