Answer:

Instantaneous velocity: velocity of a particle at a particular instant is known as instantaneous velocity

NOTE-

  1. instantaneous speed of a particle is equal to the magnitude of instantaneous Velocity

example:

If a cyclist in tour De France travelled southwest a distance of 12,250m in one hour, what would be the velocity the cyclist?

Solution:

Remember that the S.I unit for velocity is metres per second,but the problem is the distance is measured by meters but time is measured by hours so hours must be converted into seconds. Also this is a velocity problem and your solution requires a direction

step 1.write equation needed for this problem

ie. velocity = displacement by time

step 2.enter all the values

velocity= 12,250 by 3600

Step 3. calculate answer

answer is 3.40metre per second southwest
