let us certain sum is X RS.
then interest will be X×5×8%=0.40X
and the interest will be for the same sum in second situation is=X×3×4×18÷100×12=0.18X
it is given to us that
0.18X=0.40X-200
after solving this equation we will get the answer 909.09rs.
I hope, it will help

Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

P = Rs. 1000

● Explanation -

Let P be sum of money invested.

For 5 years at 8 %,

SI1 = P × 5 × 8/100

SI1 = P × 40/100

SI1 = 2P/5

For 3.33 years at 18 %,

SI2 = P × 3.333 × 18/100

SI2 = P × 60/100

SI2 = 3P/5

Given that SI1 is Rs.200 less than SI2.

SI1 - SI2 = 3P/5 - 2P/5

200 = P/5

P = 200 × 5

P = Rs. 1000

Hence, the sum invested is Rs. 1000.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
