Oxalic acid is dicarboxylic acid with basicity 2.

So it would be

equivalent weight = 90.03/2 = 45.015 g/mol

But, in case you're dealing with oxalic acid dihydrate HOOC-COOH. 2 H2O then it be same as it's Molecular Mass ie. 126 g/mol

Explanation:

In general the equivalent weight of a substance is calculated by dividing the Molecular Mass of the substance with a suitable factor , many texts call it basicity in case of acids, acidity in case of bases. The basic idea being how many moles of protons are formed as one mole of this substance disassociates. The same goes for bases.

But, it gets quite tricky when it comes to salts and other kinds of acids like Lewis acids and bases. The above concept as you can understand by now is valid for Brønsted–Lowry acids and bases.

Let's call the suitable factor as n factor and varies for various substances.

Equivalent weight = Molecular Mass/ n

The n factor varies for substances and in case of hydrated substances it is one.
