The “Homeless” is a poem written by Vikram Seth. It describes the thoughts and feelings of a person who does not have a proper place to live.

The 1st stanza says that the narrator envies people who have are living luxuriously in their own house with a sense of security. On the other hand, the narrator was living uncomfortably in places that belonged to other people who half-heartedly allowed him to stay there.

The 2nd stanza talks about the narrator’s wishes that would happen in future. He wishes to have his own place from where he could enjoy the changing seasons every year. He wishes to have peace of mind and the satisfaction of dying at his own place and not letting things pass into the hands of a stranger. He wishes to live forever with the people he loves in his own place.

Answer:

Vikram Seth wrote a poem titled "The Homeless." It explains the sensations and ideas of someone who does not have a suitable place to live.

The first stanza claims that the narrator envies those who are living opulently and secure in their own homes. However, the narrator was living inhospitably in people's homes who only halfheartedly permitted him to occupy them.

The second stanza discusses the narrator's hopes for the future. He dreams of having a home of his own where he can see the seasons change each year. He wants to die peacefully, with contentment, and without giving anything to a stranger, keeping everything in his control. He dreams of living in his own home for all of eternity with the people he loves.
