To simplify :1\frac{3}{4} + 3\frac{2}{3} - 1\frac{7}{9}

Solution :

  • To solve the above equation we will follow BODMAS rule.
  • It is the rule used to remember the order of operations to be followed while solving expressions in mathematics.
  • where,

                 $$\begin{array}{l} \\B = brackets\\\mathrm{O}=\text { order of powers or rules } \\\mathrm{D}=\text { Division } \\\mathrm{M}=\text { multiplication } \\\mathrm{A}=\text { addition } \\\mathrm{S}=\text { subtraction }\end{array}$$

  • According to above rule we will solve 1\frac{3}{4} + 3\frac{2}{3} - 1\frac{7}{9}

          = \frac{7}{4} + \frac{11}{3} - \frac{16}{9} \\

  • Taking LCM we equalize denominator.
  • LCM = 36

           \frac{63 + 132 - 64}{36} \\= \frac{131}{36}

Hence , on simplification we get , \frac{131}{36}
