1 \frac{2}{4} =1 \frac{1}{2} = \frac{3}{2}

3 \frac{5}{6} = \frac{23}{6}

Now simplifying,

 \frac{3}{2} - \frac{23}{6}

Taking out the L.C.M. of 2 & 6=6

= \frac{9-23}{6}

= \frac{-14}{6} = \frac{-7}{3} =2 \frac{1}{3} (ANSWER).
