Answer:

0.32x^2 + 0.5y^2

Step-by-step explanation:

NOTE :

(a + b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2

(a - b) ^2 = a^2 - 2ab + b^2

SOLUTION :

(0.4x-0.5y)² = (0.4x)^2 - 2 (0.4x)(0.5y) + (0.5y)^2

= 0.16x^2 - 0.4xy + 0.25y^2 ......... eq1

(0.4x+0.5y)² = (0.4x)^2 + 2 (0.4x)(0.5y) + (0.5y)^2

= 0.16x^2 + 0.4xy + 0.25y^2 ........ eq2

Add eq1 and eq2

=>0.16x^2 - 0.4xy + 0.25y^2 + 0.16x^2 + 0.4xy + 0.25y^2

=> 0.32x^2 + 0.5y^2
