How can you simplify this 1/√3+√2-√5?

How does the DuckDuckGo app/extension protect my privacy?

There is some ambiguity as to what exactly the equation is. It could be;

1/((√3)+(√2)-(√5))

(1/(√3))+(√2)-(√5)

1/√(3+√(2-√5))

I’m going to just assume that you are talking about (1/(√3))+(√2)-(√5).

In this case all you need to do is rationalize the radical in the denominator (ex. 2/(√7)=(2√7)/7). A final answer can’t have a square root in the denominator. This will give you the exact answer, which is what I assume you mean by “simplify”.

((√3)/3)+(√2)-(√5)

The estimated answer:

((√3)/3)+(√2)-(√5)≈((1.7321)/3)+(√2)-(√5)

0.5774+(√2)-(√5)≈

0.5774+1.4142-(√5)≈

0.5774+1.4142-2.2361≈-0.2445

(note: This symbol, ≈, is not an equals sign. It is the almost equals sign but the font doesn’t pick it up to well. It has the Unicode designation of 2248. Here are the two symbols side by side; =≈.)
